Challenge Yourself ... Intermediate to Advanced Ceramics with Clay Hicks.

Wednesday Afternoons: (2pm-5pm) - Joshua "Clay" Hicks - 8-week course.

With an emphasis on developing intermediate to advanced skills on the potter's wheel; methods, glazing and decoration techniques.

The main purpose of this 8-week course is to provide the students with an opportunity to further develop their skills in wheel throwing.
This course will also focus on:
  • Ceramic textures and designs using various tools.
  • Constructing Handles, spouts, lids, stems, and feet
  • Making larger forms
  • Advanced trimming techniques
  • Definition and application of an engobe.
  • Glaze color testing.

This class is open to intermediate to advanced level students who have wheel throwing experience and feel confident throwing a cylinder on the wheel.

What’s included in this class:

  • 1-$15 Clay Coupon.
  • Glazes and slips used for class pieces
  • 24x24x12 personal shelf with an additional clay shelf.
  • Break room locker with lock for personal belongings.
  • 1-15% coupon in the retail store for any additional New Mexico Clay for class.
  • An additional 3 hour glazing class; Tips & Tricks, working with slips, oxides and glazes for Cone 6 
  • Community clay tools will be available for use during classroom hours.
  • Students enrolled in classes will be allowed open studio/limited access (3-days a week) during the 8-week sessions.
